An Eye Toward Beauty - Not The Mess
This home's main floor was designed for large, family gatherings and meal-time entertaining. The kitchen is truly the hearth of this home where the chef can make eye contact with family and other guests who gather at the dining room table, in a cozy chair near the fireplace, at a game table in the screen room or on one of the sofas in the adjoining living room. Guests can easily return eye contact with the chef and yet, they are unable to see the hard "workings" of the kitchen (i.e. the "mess") thanks to carefully-planned countertop and serve-through heights of the center island. Nor does the kitchen feel out of place as the central feature of this home's main floor thanks to elegant “leathered” granite countertops, a hand-made farmhouse sink, heavily-glazed subway tiles, and custom cabinets by local artisans.
